Latest News Tech Supreme Court – Crypto Edition! Law and Innovation On May 25th, 2023, the first edition of the Tech Supreme Court gathered more than 200 entrepreneurs and decision-makers from the realms of economics, law, technology, and finance. During this fictional pop-up court at Hémicycle ECCL in Luxembourg, top experts and enthusiasts from the Luxembourgish ecosystem examined the legal, social, and economic impacts of cryptocurrencies.  TECH SUPREME COURT : THE CRYPTO EDITION The Verdict Have cryptocurrencies been found guilty or not? The staging of a court with real experts in order to debate on the legal, social, and economic impacts of cryptocurrencies. It is at the pace of a trial that different subjects have been covered. Attorney Emilie Allaert, and General Prosecutor Thierry Labro ignited the journey into the enthralling exploration of the following first charges against #cryptocurrencies: * Financial inclusion, with witnesses Romain Swertvaeger (EY), and Darina Mohamad (Elvinger Hoss Prussen)* Speed and low transaction costs, with Louis Chevalier (Tezos), and (Owen Simonin), also known as Hasheur (Meria)* Data privacy protection, with Laurent Kratz (NEOFACTO), and the surprise witness… Grégory Guilmin, stock market trainer ! After the presentation of evidence and witness testimonies, both sides, led by General Prosecutor Thierry Labro and attorney Emilie Allaert, had the opportunity to make their closing statements. They summarized their respective cases and sought to persuade the jury. – The jury retired to exchange and discuss deliberations on the case. At the end of their deliberations, the six jurors returned to the courtroom and pronounced their respective verdicts one by one. Finally, the judge delivered the formal judgment, concluding the proceedings. The verdict of the trial is as follows: cryptos were found guilty of financial inclusion and not guilty of transaction speed and low costs. The defendant was found guilty of data privacy protection and not guilty of decentralization. Finally, the defendant was acquitted of charges related to technological innovation thanks to his data creation capabilities, and found guilty of environmental impact. First in-Person Luxembourg Blockchain Week Makes Grand Impact Within the Blockchain Ecosystem Luxembourg Blockchain Week 2022 At d’Coque Luxembourg 18 main topics News Metaverse, NFTs, Verifiable credentials, Digital identity, Web3… The one-week conference was coordinated and organized by the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab, the Luxembourg innovation cluster dedicated to everything related to distributed ledger technology (DLT). Strong of the support from its ecosystem partners, the conference offered multiple side events dedicated to specific topics targeting the Luxembourg economy. The event centred around 18 main topics: Metaverse, NFTs, Verifiable credentials, Digital identity, Web3, Digital assets, Healthcare, Art & culture, Regulations, Decentralized finance, Sustainability & social impact, Cryptocurrency, Decarbonation, Supply-chain, Ecosystem, DLT, Tokenisation and Anti-money laundering. The discussions allowed for a deep dive in some of the industries where blockchain can lead to efficiency gains and new opportunities. The second edition of the Luxembourg Blockchain Week featured a uniquely designed program of concrete Blockchain applications presentations, keynotes, interactive discussions, crash courses, workshops and pitch.  The organisers welcomed more than 350 attendees from all around the world. The scene was filled with more than 90 speakers; 50% were C-level executives and more than 27% were women. The event was completed by 10 side events organised by sponsors and partners ABBL, Allen & Overy, EBSILUX project, Elvinger Hoss Prussen, Société Générale, along with the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab’s five founding members Infrachain, Lëtzblock, The LHoFT, LIST and SnT. H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister for Digitalisation of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, opened the afternoon session of the 6th edition of Infrachain Summit with a keynote on the digital transformation of Luxembourg. Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot also shared his support for the disruptive technology and its will for an active blockchain ecosystem with an opening keynote at the Luxembourg Blockchain Week. The conference was also the stage of the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab’s and the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Institute’s announcement of a joint call for project targeting specific sustainable development goals with the aim of achieving viable solutions that can be deployed on a large scale as part of the national effort in sustainable finance.
